Dear Jean,
Nearly 20 years after meeting you I still think back on your enthusiasm and active support of my very small, fledgling candy-making business. You couldn't have known then what it would mean to me, but your generously nurturing spirit made me feel immediately right at home in my new city, having moved here from 400 miles away and hardly knowing a soul yet. You set the standard, so to speak, for the kind of people I could and should seek within the community as friends, associates and for mutual support. Though we haven't been in touch for many years I think of you often and you're a big part of how I've been able to "fit in" and establish a life that I love here. What a difference a warm, enthusiastic welcome makes in a person's heart and mind. I'll always be grateful to have known you.
With love and gratitude,
Nora Firestone
