Jeannette, you were just being yourself. But what you didn't know was that I needed someone just like you :)
Much of my adolescent development was wrought by fear and anxiety.
But your candid, warm and inclusive personality put me at ease at times when I was too serious, too self-conscious and too worried to relax. Our conversations filled that void where a sister would have fit in and your no-nonsense humor and wisdom always rang more mature than your years.
Now, as you and I raise our own families, I see how your husband and children benefit from the same great qualities you shared with me. My respect and gratitude for you grow deeper every year.
Thanks for all you brought to my "wonder years;" you helped shape the future of my most "wonderful years."
